These photographs express my feelings of helplessness toward the daily struggles of my family. It is often difficult for us to hide our emotional, physical, and financial hardships. As difficult as the issues are for us, it is often times equally as complicated working through them as a household. The goal of these photographs is to ask the viewer to examine their own lives through the lens of my family, to reflect and to hopefully learn to see familial difficulties and shortcomings not as a weakness, but as tools for improvement.
These images show my family’s personal battles with all things that make us human. Some minor, such as forgetting to take out the trash, leaving dirty dishes in the sink or forgetting to walk the dog. There are other, more personal battles with-in my household which are far more devastating. Through this experience I now see my family as equals - loving and functioning members of society, but like all people, prone to making mistakes.
